Course Synopsis

For children in the early stages of speaking and writing English who are just starting out and need extra support to learn the basics of English.

This 4-month A2 Key for Schools (Stage 1) programme is designed to help international students who are non-English speakers attain a minimum Cambridge English score of 90 to progress to A2 Key for Schools (Stage 2).

Who Should Attend

International students who are applying for Singapore school admission who need to meet a minimum Cambridge English score of 100 and above for AEIS/S-AEIS Primary 2 admission and are early English learners who need extra support and encouragement to progress.

Formerly known as Cambridge English: Key for Schools (KET for Schools), A2 Key (KET) for Schools is part of the Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ).


Primary school applicants are required to attain the minimum score in the Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ) test before submitting an AEIS or S-AEIS application.

This 4-month programme is designed specifically to help Primary School applicants meet the minimum score in Cambridge English Qualification (CEQ) so as to qualify for AEIS and S-AEIS exam application.

This course will help your child improve his/her skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking—the key components of language.  


At the end of the programme, your child with an A2 Key qualification should be able to:

  • Understand and use basic phrases and expressions

  • Understand simple written English

  • Introduce yourself and answer basic questions about yourself

  • Interact with English speakers at a basic level

The Cambridge English Score (CES) is valid within 12 months before the submission date of the AEIS or S-AEIS application.

Upon Completion:

Progress to A2 Key for Schools (Stage 2) to attain a minimum score of 100 and above for A2 Key for Schools, Cambridge English Qualification (CEQ).
